thankful mexico

Thanksgiving break has gone by way to fast. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. My immersion trip to mexico was amazing. We had a great group go down there and we just had a blast. I had a very interesting experience while I was down there. I have been to some pretty poor places in the world, and this was another one to add to the list. I guess the shock value of this trip was lost to me. Not that I didn't see or notice the hardships that people were living with every day, but I think that it was much more profound for other people. I had a great chat about this with another guy who was on the trip and we both pretty much had the same views on things. We are aware of the poor places in the world and want to help them out. But there's nothing wrong with getting your own life in position first. All in all it was a great trip and I will definately have to do it again.

too true...

heh, saw this and had to post it:

A woman has a close male friend. This means that he is probably interested in her, which is why he hangs around so much. She sees him strictly as a friend. This always starts out with, you're a great guy, but I don't like you in that way. This is roughly the equivalent for the guy of going to a job interview and the company saying, You have a great resume, you have all the qualifications we are looking for, but we're not going to hire you. We will, however, use your resume as the basis for comparison for all other applicants. But, we're going to hire somebody who is far less qualified and is probably an alcoholic. And if he doesn't work out, we'll hire somebody else, but still not you. In fact, we will never hire you. But we will call you from time to time to complain about the person that we hired.

more on that later...

what to do

This evening, we had an interesting sermon. A familiar theme of finding what to do with ones life came up, and was related to halloween. We all like to get dressed up and play different roles for the one (or two or three...) day(s) and experiement. Kinda like what you do when you're in a new place or situation. I have a pretty good idea of what I'd like to do out of college, and this got me thinking. All of these people dressing up aren't sure of who they are yet, so they're still experimenting. I didn't really get dressed up this year, but I'm not sure if thats out of lazyness or being comfortable with who I am.

Something to ponder as I fall asleep...
